Elliott Murphy, born March 16, 1949 in Rockville Centre, Nassau County, New York, is an American singer-songwriter, musician and writer.

He learned to play the guitar at the age of twelve. He starts playing guitar with his band The Rapscallions. As a teenager, he played in small amateur rhythm ‘n blues bands. He then left for Europe and reinforced his musical training by playing in the streets of many cities. In 1973, Elliott Murphy recorded his first album, Aquashow, for Polydor, accompanied by a folk-rock band that included his brother Matthew Murphy on bass.
